Cavendish dedicates win to Renshaw

Manx Missile makes it four for TdF 2010

The 18th Stage of the TdF was from Salies-de-Béarn to Bordeaux, a distance of 198km.  A flat stage after the last 4 days in the Pyrenees was a relief to all riders and the fact that there was almost no effort to chase the inevitable breakaway till the last kms, also showed the mindset of the riders, who just want to finish this tour on the streets of Paris on Sunday.

Tour de France 2010 – Stage 6

Montargis

Cav repeats but brawl & a knockout draws news!!

The 6th Stage of the TdF was from Montargis to Gueugnon a distance of 227.5km the longest stage at this year’s TdF.  With this stage being the last of the flats before the climbs of Alps, it was left to the sprinter teams to finish off the stage, while the GC riders tried to keep up & finish without any eventualities. Mark “Manx Missile” Cavendish once again came to the party with the fastest legs & repeated his Stage 5 performance to win, but the no holds barred fist fight between 2 riders & the knock down of Robbie McEwen after the race also gathered attention.

With the announcement of his signing up with the Radio Shack team by Lance Armstrong, the battle lines are going to drawn very clearly now. Reports of displeasure within the Astana team on Contador’s move in Stage 16 is now in the open.

The Lance influence !!

lance-armstrong

As the tour starts of on the third of the Alpine stages, the race for the top contender is now becoming a show of team strength. With several teams totally out of contention, its Astana & Garmin Slipstream teams which are putting the riders right up front and keeping the rhythm & the speed going. To see the Astana team minus Leipheimer chugging away right in the front reminds one of the Discovery team & US Postal team days, when Armstrong, in order to make sure that he doesn’t get caught in any untoward incidents used to ensure that his team rode right at the front, even if they had to lead the peleton.
