Greipel the Gorilla Roars again

On a slightly uphill course with a false flat, it was Lotto Belisol’s Andre “Gorilla” Greipel roar of delight that was heard at the end of the stage on the 6th day of the Tour de France 2012, as for the second consecutive day, he finished of the race by winning the stage with a perfect run to finish line.

Come July every year, an armada of cycling fans from across the globe, focus their attention on France, for its Tour de France (TdF) time. The biggest annual event on a global scale is in its 99th year and this year we will see a June30th start for what will be another epic saga enacted over 3500km of France and neighboring countries.

With the race set to move into the Alps, the frenzy of the tour moves from France to Switzerland. The fans traveling across to the high mountains in campers is a sight to thrill any sport lover. The energy of the mass gathered on the sides of the road waiting for over 5-6 hours just to cheer on their favourite riders shows the popularity of this sport.

Cold & rainy – the tour moves on!!

Today, we were certified “crazy & mad” by our friends in Colmar, for we braved a consistent drizzle for over 2 hours on the streets leading to Sundhoffen – a small village on the route to Besancon, to catch the publicity caravan & the riders as we have been doing for the last 13 days. For us it was more of a thrill to see Contador, Nocentini, Armstrong, Cavendish & the other riders, who have become a part of our life – cycling by. But for majority of the crowd at this town it was the publicity caravan that was the focus, as getting gifts being thrown from the branded vans & participating in contests is equally thrilling!!

Andorra – Jewel in Pyrenees!!

According to legend, Charlemagne founded Andorra in the year 805, but the first documented proof of its existence is from the Act of consecration of the Cathedral of Santa Maria d’ Urgell in 839. Then in 1278 on the basis of sovereignty the Principality of Andorra was born and after many a changes in 1993 the Principality turned into an independent, democratic & social state with an established constitution. Today Andorra is divided into 7 parishes & has the highest life expectancy in the world!!
