Travel to Thailand to Learn How to Cook Thai Style!

This is a Guest Post provided by Penny Swift for Travel Insurance Cover, an Australian travel insurance company.  Penny is a freelance writer as well as an avid traveler and enthusiastic cook.

I love travelling and I love cooking, so whenever I can, I take a cookery course that teaches me about the cuisine of the country I am visiting.
My most recent holiday was to Phuket in Thailand, inspired not in the least by my love of Thai food.

Bangkok and Phuket (Final part)

Having filled our bags with bargains, we left for Phuket the same day. On landing in Phuket, we booked the PhiPhi Island tour for the next day. It is highly recommended that one book such a tour because of two reasons. Firstly, PhiPhi Island is accessible only by ferries and travellers who are not a part of such packages are charged more. Secondly, passengers who book a tour at the airport are given a free shuttle to their hotels. Public transport is nonexistent and taxis are very expensive. Our hotel, Ibis Kata was an hour’s drive from the airport. Had we not booked the tour for about 1000 baht, we would have spent 800 baht just for the taxi back to the hotel! Spain In Its Natural Glory

One short but extremely eventful & colourful stop for me in my travel was in Spain. For most of us, Spain Holidays can mean many different things. Beyond the obvious bullfighting, flamenco dancers, paella and crowed beaches – the country I discovered was a varied treasure chest of natural and architectural marvels.

Vienna Attractions

One city I fell in love with during my first visit albeit short one in the year 2006 is Vienna the capital city of Austria. I consider myself lucky, for 2009 gave me one more opportunity to visit and see Vienna up close and that too leisurely.

So what is it that attracts one to Vienna? Plush green gardens, larger than life architectural buildings, markets, music and culture? The answer is each one of these things, yes everything!

Eat, sleep, shop and talk cricket

With husband pampering in mind and 1st salary in our pockets my friend and myself decided to check out the talk of the town ‘the bat and the ball inn’. Yes it’s the same place which was inaugurated by Sreesanth, Robin Uthappa and Charu Sharma recently in Kochi. Warm and welcoming, this place consists of a 5 rooms (tastefully done), souvenir shop (good collection), boutique (beautiful and economical towels, cushions and covers but frightfully expensive dresses), silly point café (which was yet to get functional) and Cornucopia restaurant (which is where we had our sumptuous dinner).
