I had a dream my life would be
So different from the hell I’m living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
Those are the words from the song ‘I dreamed a dream’ from Les Miserables. When Susan Boyle selected this song for her performance as a contestant on the 3rd series of Britain’s Got Talent; little would she have expected the raving comments and standing ovation that she received.
Most of us believe that first impression is the last impression. But, hey if you have talent or intelligence to back you up, you don’t have to worry much. The audience including the judges who were skeptical about Susan Boyle purely based on her age and looks were dumbfounded by the end of her performance.
48 year old, Susan Boyle is far from the Cinderella looks but her contrasting voice makes up for all. As Amanda Holden, one of the judges at the contest rightly remarked that Susan’s singing was a wake up to all who were cynical. How many times have we made an impression about a person based on their physical appearance and material possessions?
Susan Boyle is a living example epitomizing the belief that looks don’t matter and it’s never too late. I take a bow, for Susan Boyle has set an example for people who give up too soon.
I have known of talented people who give up on life let alone themselves, following repeated defeats. They stop believing that the sun will shine. I get the urge to shake them up and ask them to pick their lives soon so that atleast there tomorrow is better than today. I feel like telling them to stop brooding over what you have and work towards what you believe you can do. No one has ever achieved anything by blaming their circumstances. All you need is to shed off the shackles of your past and move on.
Susan Boyle is a normal person like any of us. What made her stand out was her belief and never say die attitude. Emotional that I am I had tears in my eyes on watching this video. Do watch it if you haven’t watched it already… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY&feature=related
3 cheers to Susan Boyle and the lesser known likes!
