@Priya: Still not so sure; I stayed in Germany for a year and except for the Turks there nobody seemed to have a real interest in Bollywood.

But maybe you are right; since I never digged that deep (coz I'm not a big fan of Bollywood myself) and you saw a different side of it. And to support your hypothesis; Hindi movies dubbed in German used to shown on their national tv channel every friday. it was funny to see Shah Rukh Khan speaking in German :D

Slumdog Millionaire seems to be a favourite topic. An Australian guy in Bangkok asked me if I was "Jamaal Millionaire". Is that supposed to be amusing?

BTW, nice write up on Europe.

Nice post...I too went around Europe for 3 months and experienced the same feeling. Everyone wanted to know about Bollywood and Nan Bread and I even met a few Moroccan girls who were crazy about Shah Rukh. Have my photographs on Facebook(facebook.com/manusrikumar) and some videos on my travel blog justgoingaround.com

Best,
Manu

Great blog.!

Though I concur with the European obsession for Indian food, I am not so sure about their passion for Bollywood. It seemed very artificial to me, atleast among the people I've met ther. And about Switzerland, well they just market their place through our movies, I was surprised to find Hindi signs almost everywhere at the tourist spots in Switzerland. And a bigger shock was at one particular tourist spot (memory fails on which one) on top of the mountains, the only shop of any kind that was available was one selling 'Samosa und Chai' and run by a blue-eyed blonde Swiss girl :)
