Flight Deal

While traveling across Europe, I found out about many flight and train deals which were such an ease on my pockets; that I ended up using their services quite too often :) Surprisingly its not officials beyond the counter who give you this information, and why would they? For them you are plain gainful customer! Thanks to my local friends who helped us with these information!

Well, don’t we all wish that we are at anytime aware of all offers ? Here I have Elizabeth sharing her insights on finding a flight deal while flying out from United States…

The reason I wanted to share your write-up specially with my non-Indian readers who will surely relate to your experience. Reading through your article I had visions of my friends coming back to me – their horrific expressions filled with awe and admiration for the Indian traffic :) So here’s saying cheers to you!

A Fusion of Two Very Different Worlds

Lying at the mouth of the Yangtze river in China is one of the largest cities in the world, Shanghai – population 20 million, where the old world has blended well with the new, and briefcase toting businessmen share the road equally with vegetable baskets carried by old ladies.  This is the Middle Kingdom, today a conglomeration of American commerce, European vogue and Chinese traditional cultures.

Kolkata, India: A City Holding onto its Past

This is a guest post by Lyndsey Biddle who writes for leather briefcase, a website that offers luxury briefcases direct from the manufacturer. Lyndsey currently resides in Kolkata, India, where she is learning Bengali and Indian cooking.

Kolkata street...the first city in India to run trams!

Kolkata street...the first city in India to run trams!

I moved to Kolkata, India a little over a year ago to study Bengali and to learn more about Bengali culture. Though it is not my first time in India, my introduction to Kolkata left me somewhat bewildered. What a peculiar mixture of old and new this city is. With India developing and changing at an alarming rate, Kolkata is not excluded. There are constantly new tall, modern buildings popping up and neighborhoods are now seeing shopping complexes, cafes, bookstores, and all the conveniences that come along with a modern city.

Global warming!

Conference on climatic change recently held at Hyderabad got manufacturers, sellers, policy makers etc together under one roof discussing various challenges and opportunities in India for energy conservation and generation.  There is another such conclave coming up in Copenhagen, Denmark. Its a burning topic, but what possible positive results emerge from these meetings is yet to be seen.

Today on the day of the launch of the Jawaharlal Nehru solar mission that aims at an installed capacity of 20,000 MW by the end of 13th five year plan in 2022, I would like to share a short poetry sent to me by a concerned citizen Girija Acharya.

10 things South Indian films have taught me?

This is a guest post by V V Rajan, Head of Media, Impact & Echo Advertising Co., Kuwait and blogs regularly at Random Thoughtz. If you are interested to guest post on this blog please check on the guidelines.

Age ain’t nothing but a number!
This is so true in the South Indian films. All our super stars be it MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, NTR and the super Star Rajnikant have time and again proven that no matter even if you cross 50, you can still look young and look youthful and have girlfriends who are your grand daughter’s age. You can do all those things the current gen X does. What’s more you can even go to college and look like a student!!!!

Human Statues…

This is a guest post by Mr.Q, a quizmaster by profession and a passionate traveler

How many of us would volunteer for a job that doesn’t require you to do anything at all except standing still?? I guess 90% of us would jump at this offer of not having to do anything at all!! But yes, there is a catch, you will have to get your face & sometimes hair painted!! So, there you go 50% of us have already backed out of the job!! And perhaps also have to wear a dress as if you are going for a fancy dress competition. Another 40% of those remaining also are planning to drop out!! And when the final condition is revealed I guess we won’t have any more volunteers!! For the last condition is that – you will have to stand motionless & emotionless – like a statue for over an hour at a time.
