Dark nights for the Knights

cric5
Imagine the disappointment for the South Africa crowd, not because of the repeated poor performance of the Kolkata Knight Riders but because of their favorite Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan absconding from the scenes these days.

My heart goes out for SRK. After all, it’s not easy to own a team which ended up second last in IPL 2008 and probably would be end up last in IPL 2009. And with fake IPL blogger on its tail revealing the inside stories; things are not looking any better for him.

Are the kids today overexposed?

cute-baby-talking-on-phone

I was visiting Delhi on work. It was my best friend’s son’s birthday around the same time so I got invited; the only adult in a kid’s party, besides my friend couple of course. There wasn’t much I was required to do; everything had been taken care of. So I ended up being a silent observer.

When risk meets grit…

Prakash Varma and Sneha Iype founder, Nirvana Films agreed to have started a firm 8 years ago without knowing where they where headed. All they had was a dream. I wonder what would have happened had they not taken that one risk…that one step out from their comfort zone.

We wouldn’t have had the pug and the kids and the current favorite for many “zoozoos”! Yeh, ok there would have been something else but surely not the nearly icons pug and zoozoo. For interest of the readers Nirvana Films is a Bangalore based company that has created a niche out of ad-film production and have many award winning ad-films to their credit.

Vodafone’s Zoozoos

We all have seen the alien looking characters introduced by Vodafone for its value added service advertisements more so while watching the IPL matches. All this while I thought it was an animated ad; was quite surprised to read that they were actually live beings dressed in white! The set, including all the props, is in the form of shadows created by spray painting.

The ads are getting quite mixed reviews though if you ask my opinion, I feel they are clutter breaking, creative and brilliant. Here’s my favorite ad of the lot…

Family matters

fam

Hubz comes from a big family. Recently a second cousin of his met up with a bad accident and was admitted in a hospital in Kochi. We got to know from a family member back home post which we left home to pay him a visit. Few minutes into the conversation we realized that he was actually getting treated by a doctor who was against a distant cousin (we are in touch with) but the patient didn’t even know!

In a similar incident, a cousin in Calicut who is a teacher got talking to a fellow teacher only to realize in the end they both were related!!

Just for laughs – life around Indian Premier League (1)

Look how romantic, a boyfriend or a husband can get during IPLs….sigh!

Jazz all the way – music concert by Usha Uthup

usha

Usha Uthup or didi (elder sister) as she is fondly referred to, was in Cochin (Kochi) city recently, to enthrall the crowd with her contemporary music concert.

Held at JTPac, the concert was the second performance or initiative by the management after the astounding sBesame mucho, how put up by Dr.L Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurthy earlier this month.

What a performance and what a performer! Didi connects with her audience like nobody’s business. Even a bathroom singer feels inspired to sing with her as she encourages all to join her in singing lines from songs like Words, Besame mucho, Kaisi paheli hai ye…etc..,

In the name of Fashion!

People are getting weirder and weirder by the day in the name of fashion. Just read about the new find by a Japanese clothing company Sanna’s – low cut bikini jeans which they say have become the latest “in thing”. Have a look…

Well, I found it the most atrocious thing ever. There are creative people and there are hideous sorts. Fashion is good till it enhances your sexuality in the most subtle way. It does not have to glare at your face. That is being sluttish in my definition.

Life around IPL

ipl-teams

Not that we need any reason to gang up but IPL just adds to the existing excitement of getting together! So, its time again for hi fives, lots of cheering, booing and high decibels :)

It’s a rule at my place that the team I support, hubz will go for the competing team…Its fun as we end up booing each other. Geee… And man was I happy when Rajasthan Royal won? I supported them and Chennai Super Kings from day 1. For finals my loyalty was tilted towards Rajasthan Royals and yoo-hoo we won. This year I haven’t decided as yet, though hubz  feel that Bangalore Royal Challengers stand a good chance this year; after all the shuffling and renegotiation of players.
