Life around IPL

ipl-teams

Not that we need any reason to gang up but IPL just adds to the existing excitement of getting together! So, its time again for hi fives, lots of cheering, booing and high decibels :)

It’s a rule at my place that the team I support, hubz will go for the competing team…Its fun as we end up booing each other. Geee… And man was I happy when Rajasthan Royal won? I supported them and Chennai Super Kings from day 1. For finals my loyalty was tilted towards Rajasthan Royals and yoo-hoo we won. This year I haven’t decided as yet, though hubz  feel that Bangalore Royal Challengers stand a good chance this year; after all the shuffling and renegotiation of players.

Vishu… beginning of a new year

vishu-kani

Vishu – the day of Vishukani and Vishu Kaineetam heralds the beginning of Malayalam New Year. Vishu falls on the first day in the Malayalam month of Medam.

2008 was my first Vishu after wedding, which meant that I was in charge of things. Was a bit unsure of lot of things pertaining to Vishukani but in the end I could do it as per the tradition and it was an enjoyable learning experience. I arranged all things required for Vishukani like mirror, raw rice, fruits, golden cucumber, and piece of white mundu, gold ornaments, few coins, flowers, coconut and idol of laddu Gopal aka Krishna. Since I could not get Konna flowers, I had to make do with an ensemble of different colorful flowers. I did all this the previous night.
